George Francis White (1808–1898) was a colonel in the British Army who served during the era of the British Raj. In addition to his military career, White was also a passionate amateur artist. While stationed in India, he documented the landscapes and life around him through sketches and paintings.

His artistic work culminated in a notable publication titled Views in India, Chiefly among the Himalaya Mountains—a collection of engravings based on his original sketches that offered audiences a rare visual glimpse into the majestic Himalayan region and colonial India during the 19th century.
